Dieting is truly the most important thing their is when it comes to wellness and even happiness. Ever hear the saying “you are what you consume” well its very true. The idea of dieting is obviously to look good and also too feel good.  But ever think how nutrition/dieting can be important for the longevity of life? I think this slips peoples mind. We are getting older day by day and its important we live life to its fullest and feel amazing day by day.

There are many diets out there. Vegan, Ketogentic, Pegan, etc. The list goes on forever honestly. If your trying to loose weight here are a few option. ONE of favorite diets is the Keto-Diet. Its a high fat, high protein, and low carbs.

So what is a Keto diet? The ketogenic diet (often termed keto) is a very low-carb, high-fat diet that shares many similarities with the Atkins and low-carb diets. It involves drastically reducing carbohydrate intake, and replacing it with fat. The reduction in carbs puts your body into a metabolic state called ketosis. Instead of relying on carbs and glucose, your body switchs its energy source to run off of fat and your body becomes a fat burning machine. Ketosis is a natural process the body initiates to help us survive when food intake is low. During this state, we produce ketones, which are produced from the breakdown of fats in the liver. The end goal of a properly maintained keto diet is to force your body into this metabolic state. We don’t do this through starvation of calories but starvation of carbohydrates. Our bodies are incredibly adaptive to what you put into it – when you overload it with fats and take away carbohydrates, it will begin to burn ketones as the primary energy source. Optimal ketone levels offer many health, weight loss, physical and mental performance benefits.

BENEFITS:

When it comes to switching over to a new diet the benefits are fantascic. And  especially when your have high blood pressure, diabetic, Epilepsy, and even skin and acne. Its also known to help with mental focus and the ketones that are produced is a great source of fuel for your brain. Remember the brain is one of your biggest muscles we use on the day to day.  Ketones are a great source of fuel for the brain. When you lower carb intake, you avoid big spikes in blood sugar. Together, this can result in improved focus and concentration. Studies show that an increased intake of fatty acids can have impacting benefits to our brain’s function. i got into this Keto Diet by listing to a pod cast  ” The Joe Rogan Experience” episode # 994 Dom D’Agostino. This guy has profound knowledge about this diet and literally goes over every detail and what also inspired him to take this journey. HIGHLY RECOMMEND LISTENING TO IT!

My experience with this diet was interesting i would have to say. I first heard about this diet a few months ago and had to try it myself. Overall i truly felt like i was at my best in all aspects of life. Mentally Emotionally and just happier all round. I had so much more energy than i usually would and never really crashed because of lack of energy or drive to do anything. Sometimes life can get busy and you can skip a meal but even though i was hungry it never effected me or my work results.  I started seeing the small things in life change because i was changing my inside and it was having a residual effect on my outside life too. Also i heard how this diet is great for people who deal with cancer or pre-cancer patients. Being on this diet doesn’t fuel all types of cancer that are out there. Some cancer do rely on glucose and carbs. If you want more answers to this and would love some knowledge about how it can be so beneficial  to people who are at high risk for cancer here is a link…
